About me

Sophie H. Janicke, Ph.D.

Dr. Janicke is a researcher, teacher and innovator who is passionate about sharing the science of positive psychology and media effects. She is a psychologist with a Ph.D. in Media Psychology and has worked in academia for over 5 years. Besides her work as Assistant Professor at Chapman University, she is co-founder of the Ecology of Technology movement, the #RealBreak community and she implements workshops on mindfulness and work-life balance at the university and other business settings.

Dr. Janicke is driven by the idea that her work can be used by others to create a life in which they can flourish using technologies and media as a tool to develop their strengths rather than their weaknesses. Her goal is to translate the science of positive media psychology in a way it is applicable for the media consumer and to provide practical solutions for media and technology based problems in everyday life.

"My work is inspired by my own struggles and practices to accomplish a happiness-media and technology-balance. I am eager to share the science and practical steps based on mindfulness and positive psychology I used in my own life to attain this goal."
